Also, what have you found to be good sources for the professional collection?

Question:
We are trying to add more books to our professional collection and would appreciate suggestions of titles that your teachers have found to be helpful. Also, what have you found to be good sources for the professional collection?

Answer:
If you are looking for journals, my two top choices would be EDUCATIONAL LEADERSHIP published by ASCD and PHI DELTA KAPPAN by Phi Delta Kappa. These two cover the newest trends, the research, the major items that are now (or will be soon) on everyone's education agenda. They don't have the cute, make-and-take, bulletin board idea, how we do it here kind of articles that so many teachers like, but they do give a good grounding the the serious issues and the fundamentals of education policy. P.S. I've worked in a professional library for 26 years. We (the Santa Clara County Office of Education have a web page online at: http://www.sccoe.k12.ca.us Look for the Educational Media Center, Professional Library. Several of our bibliographies are online and if you have telnet, you can search our online library catalog.
